I became a true believer of coffee’s health benefits about 2 years ago…
In order to get 10 credit points for Psychology101 (without having to write a short essay), I participated in a psychology study. I was given 1 cup of coffee. I asked for a small skim cap (extra froth). After consuming the entire coffee, I was put in a tiny, dark, windowless office. Alone. Phoneless. It was one of the weirdest experiences. Think sci-fi thriller vibes. After two minutes swinging around on my chair, I was instructed to turn on the computer screen and perform a bunch of IQ like tests.
After finishing I was informed that the study was to test the effects of caffeine on concentration. Before leaving I asked the guy running the experiment (who had been studying caffeine and its health effects for 4 years) whether coffee was good for me. He told me it increased memory abilities, lowers your risk of type II diabetes, increased concentration and reduced your risk of developing Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Hallelujah.
